    Why these 10 jobs

We picked large U.S. occupations (BLS employment, May 2025) where real-usage and exposure studies show AI helps most with day-to-day information work. Very large hands-on jobs like home health aides, cooks, and stockers score low on AI applicability, so they aren't featured yet. Sources: BLS OEWS May 2025 · Microsoft "Working with AI" (2025) · OpenAI/UPenn "GPTs are GPTs" · Anthropic Economic Index · checked Oct 2026.

    1. Customer service / sales representative: Customer service representatives: 2,595,750 jobs; sales reps of services: 1,256,010 (BLS, May 2025). Customer service reps (0.41) and sales reps of services (0.45) are in Microsoft's top 10 occupations by AI applicability; Anthropic ranks customer service reps the 2nd most exposed occupation.
    2. Office manager / administrative assistant / office clerk: Secretaries & admin assistants: 3,284,600 jobs; office clerks, general: 2,464,940 (BLS, May 2025). Microsoft's real-usage study gives Secretaries & Administrative Assistants an AI applicability score of 0.24 and Information & Record Clerks 0.33 (above most groups).
    3. General & operations manager: 3,503,020 jobs, one of the 10 largest occupations (BLS, May 2025). Microsoft scores Top Executives lower (0.11), but this is the person who approves tools and whose writing, planning, and reporting tasks AI helps with. They're included because a beginner's proposal usually lands on their desk.
    4. Retail sales associate: 3,897,860 jobs, the 2nd largest occupation (BLS, May 2025). Microsoft scores Retail Sales Workers 0.30, among the higher groups.
    5. Nurse / medical assistant (admin side): Registered nurses: 3,379,720; medical assistants: 817,870 (BLS, May 2025). Clinical work scores low in Microsoft's study (Healthcare practitioners 0.13), and that's why this page covers only the admin and education side. 'GPTs are GPTs' rated hospitals among the more exposed industries.
    6. K–12 teacher: Elementary 1,388,390 + middle 620,090 + secondary 1,065,210 = about 3.07 million (BLS, May 2025; our sum). Microsoft scores Primary/Secondary/Special Ed teachers 0.18; 'teach/explain' is one of the activities AI does best in that study.
    7. Accountant / auditor (small firm or in-house): Accountants & auditors: 1,449,500 jobs (BLS, May 2025). 'GPTs are GPTs' GPT-4 ratings list Accountants and Auditors as 100% exposed under its broadest measure; Microsoft scores Financial Specialists 0.23.

    How we rank

    1 · Safety gate

If a task's data is more sensitive than a tool is verified for, the tool isn't ranked for it. Red needs a verified BAA/agreement path.

    2 · Task score

How often × effort saved ÷ data risk. Editor judgment, not measured savings.

    3 · Tool score

Fit 35% · Ease 25% · Cost 20% · Safety 20%. "Already paid for" wins ties. No company pays for placement.

    Data colors

    Green

    Public/generic. Any approved tool.

    Yellow

Customer & internal info. Business accounts only; remove extra details.

    Red

Health, SSNs, card/bank, passwords, HR. Only with a signed agreement + settings + written OK. Talk to a professional first.
